WHAT IS APPLE GIN?
Sail We Must Apple Gin is a sustainable gin made with upcycled fresh apple pulp straight after it's been pressed to make cider. There's a load of unique fresh apple flavour locked into the apple skins and pulp that gets gently extracted through the distillation process. A touch of cold distilled juniper berry and angelica root are added to provide some extra juiciness and complexity to the gin.
WHAT MAKES SAIL WE MUST APPLE GIN SUSTAINABLE AND WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE APPLE PULP AFTER YOU'VE MADE THE GIN?
After the apples have been pressed to make cider, and the resulting apple pulp distilled to make gin, the whole lot, juniper berries and angelica root included, gets converted into compost at the distillery. The process takes about 6-9 months and compost is used to feed the botanicals in the distillery garden. Nothing goes to waste!
We use paper seals and fully natural corks in all our products, no plastics get used, ever.
The botanicals are distilled in a custom-made cold vacuum still that uses significantly less energy and water compared to tradition distilling. A net saving in energy use and the ability to capture vibrant fresh flavours that tradition stills could only dream of!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
Bold fresh green apple, complimented with bright juicy juniper and slightly herbaceous, aromatic woody notes of Angelica root (think Appletiser meets London dry gin!)
HOW TO SERVE:
A highball glass, lots of ice, a measure of Sail We Must Apple Gin, Fevertree Mediterranean tonic, garnish with lime or grapefruit peel. Easy!
